Mac Abbotts - 6th Dan

MAC ABBOTTS - 6th Dan. Club founder member, Senior Coach and one of the most experienced and respected coaches in judo. Mac coached the Midland Area and National Squads in what were probably their most successful periods ever. He was the official Judo Teacher/Instructor with Wolverhampton City Council for many years but has now retired from that position.

A natural motivator, Mac always seems to be able to get that little bit more from his players and it has been said by more than one player that they won simply because he was at the mat-side.

Dave Brooks - 6th Dan

DAVE BROOKS - 6th Dan. Joint club founder member, Senior Coach and the other half of what has to be one of the most enduring and successful friendship/partnerships in British sport. Dave is a self employed electrician and an ex Coach to the Midland Area Squads with Mac in the 80‘s. He is the technician of the duo with an eye for the slightest opportunity where subtle variations and improvements to the players techniques can make the difference between winning and losing.
Bill Kelly - 3rd Dan

BILL KELLY - 3rd Dan. Bill has been at the club since 1979 and is another of Mac and Dave’s protégés from a few years ago when he was a junior. Having finished his competitive judo, he still loves to be in the thick of it as Coach although he still enters the occasional Veterans competition. Bill works in the family construction business which no doubt helps him to maintain his fitness level. Judo is an institution in the Kelly family as all of his four children are active players. Bill is also a Midland Area Squads Coach and the County Coach for the West Midlands.
Kevin O'Reilly - 3rd Dan

KEVIN O’REILLY - 3rd Dan. Another long standing club member who was not content to just disappear after his competitive days were over. Kevin is a Sales and Marketing Director who, despite his busy life, still loves to be involved and help to coach the juniors just as often as he can. He also still enters the occasional Veterans competition and. Kevin is now taking getting more involved with coaching the senior members of the club and has established a good session for lower grade Seniors on Friday evenings and also an extra Junior session on Wednesday evenings. Kevin is also the main mover in the club’s success in acquiring the BJA “ClubMark” Club Recognition Scheme.

Mark Hazeldine-Potts - 2nd Dan

MARK HAZELDINE-POTTS - 2nd Dan. Mark is also a long standing club member who now likes to be involved with coaching. Mark is a family man and is a Maintenance Engineer with Allied Bakeries who helps Dave & Kevin on Wednesday & Friday evenings plus any other time he may be available.
